The tour gives you a chance to follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest Popes and human beings in history. We will see places of his childhood and adolescence, including the parish church and the house where he was born turned into a museum which illustrates his life and work in Poland. Our journey to Wadowice gives you a chance to view the peaks of the Popes beloved Beskidy mountain range where he used to hike. A trip to Wadowice is also a great opportunity to see typical small town everyday life and try the Pope’s favourite cake – delicious cream-cake!

Next stop at Kalwaria Zebrzydowska 'And if there is something I want to make you eager to do, is that you do not stop visiting this sanctuary'. John Paul II about Kalwaria Zebrzydowska.  The Sacred Cross church of the modelled after the church of Golgota in Jerusalem and the chapel of the Tomb of Christ, similar to the church in Jerusalem was founded in the year 1600 by Nicolaus Zebrzydowski who also invited, the franciscan fathers and brothers - Bernardyni in Polish - who had also cared for the holy places in Jerusalem for over 300 years.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska has been visited by very important people: members of royal families, austrian emperors. John Paul II, visited Kalwaria as pope in 1979 and 2002. Today the Kalwaria monastery also houses a higher seminary. On return to Cracow we will have opportunity to visit the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki. In this developing place of pilgrimage you can pay homage to the holly relics of St. Faustyna Kowalska, who was canonised by John Paul II, and admire the impressive modern basilica consecrated by the Pope in 2002.

Finally, we will visit the Archbishop's Palace which is Wojtyła's last residence before leaving for the Vatican in 1978. There one can see the famous 'window', where John Paul II used to show up to talk to the youth of Cracow during all his visits and where thousands of people lit candles and prayed during his last days.
